The Catalan Association of Solidarity and help for Refugees (ACSAR) was founded in Barcelona, 20th of November 1980, registered by the Civil Government of Barcelona and after registered by the Generalitat of Catalunya.

ACSAR first gained experience in 1973 from groups working in Latin American with people exiled from their country. In 1977 ACSAR founded the Defense Commission for Political Refugees.

Now the fundamental objective of ACSAR is to provide judicial and humanitarian support to Refugees and Immigrants resident in Catalunya. ACSAR offers the specific services that they require and acts as an intermediate between Refugees and the Administrations.
